Concept Models

cm

As discussed earlier in the collage and sketches post, my inspiration for the construction of the sit+store furniture is geometric shapes and sharp edges. Nets and steel framework are highly influential on my design and this is what I tried to experiment with while assembling these models.

The arrangements are made using a simple element, toothpick. This has also be picked on purpose as it is made of wood which is my probable material choice.  The crisp and clean white background portrays simplicity and emphasize the structural design of the model itself.

cm1One of my first models displays a cube like structure where the single straight lines are a highly integral part of the construction of the design. These not only create an interesting front and side view, but also form eye catching shadows, which will be seen in all the models below.

cm2Another arrangement which has lines coming inwards and outwards could be a possible idea in the design of my sit+store furniture.

cm3 A highly simple model with no intersection also creates fascinating shadows which reflect the concept very well.

cm4After all the simple arrangements, I tried a more complex design which created different polygons like pentagons and triangles. cm5Both of these final models hint a complicated construction with enthralling arrangements and gripping visuals.

I have tried to cover materials, form, texture and even colours through my model which makes it more relatable to the initial collage composition and research done till now.

Here is a slide show of the model images for a more detailed view.
